About Southern Petrochemicals Industries Corporation Ltd

Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation Ltd (SPIC) is one of India’s leading fertilizer manufacturers, with seven production plants located in Tamil Nadu. SPIC has a portfolio of businesses in fertilizer, engineering, pharmaceuticals, biotech, and construction services. SPIC’s fertilizer division manufactures nitrogenous and phosphatic fertilizers, and the pharmaceutical division manufactures penicillinG drugs and other formulations, while the engineering division offers specialized and turnkey project-based solutions and agribusiness includes tissue culture plants hybrid seeds biofertilisers, among others. SPIC was established in 1969 in Chennai and in 1979 installed a Pure Gas Hydrogen Recovery Unit to increase Ammonia Production. Subsidiaries are spread across different sectors, like Orchard Microsystems Ltd, IndoJordan Chemicals Company Ltd, SPEL Semiconductor Ltd, and SPIC Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd Mauritius.In the year 2021, SPIC made an arrangement with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd for using their tank farm facility at Tuticorin Port premises for handling a part of its imported Naphtha shipments. 25.33 MW DC/22.0 MW AC Floating Solar Project was also commissioned on 7th March 2022 by Greenam, an Associate Company. SPIC continues to diversify and develop its different production initiatives, with a focus on offering quality services to its customers across India.
