About Adani Power
Established in 1996, Adani Power Limited is one of India’s leading thermal power producers. It operates under Adani Group’s infrastructure and energy portfolio, which includes power generation, transmission, distribution, renewable energy, and international power exports.
Adani Power has 17,510 MW installed thermal power capacity spread across its 11 power plants in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Tamil Nadu, apart from a 40 MW solar power plant in Gujarat.
History of Adani Power
Adani Power Limited was incorporated on August 22, 1996. The company executed a loan agreement with lenders of the Mundra Phase I Power Project in 2006 and also signed a coal supply agreement with AEL for the Mundra Phase I Power Project, which was later extended to the Mundra Phase II Power Project.
During 2008, the company leased 204.28 ha, signed with the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation for the Tiroda Project. In 2008, it entered into an investment agreement with Ventura Power. In 2007, the company converted into a public company and was listed on the public market on August 20, 2009, by raising ₹3,016.52 crore in the IPO.
In 2019, it acquired GMR Chhattisgarh Energy Ltd. (GCEL). Later in 2023, it started a 800 MW thermal power generation unit in the Jharkhand district and started supplying Bangladesh with 748 MW of power.
