About Warren Tea Ltd

Warren Tea, an associate of James Warren in Upper Assam, has 13 tea gardens and is owned and run by the Manchester-based G S Ruia group. After seeing a minor setback in 1987-88, the company's yield per hectare is now 2255 kg. Warren Tea and its partners recently acquired a 24% stake in Vegepro Foods & Feeds, formerly held by Glaxo. To expand their portfolio, they have diversified into sugar manufacturing and other downstream sectors, and are signing MOUs to build a 2-mtpa cement plant.

In order to grow further, Warren Tea is looking to add 23 million kg to its production, and is actively looking to acquire additional tea gardens in Assam. Its subsidiary, Warren Metal Industries, was amalgamated to the company in 1997-98 and saw success. With partnerships and investments in strategic fields, Warren Tea is looking to build on its existing level of success and expand into even more sectors of business.
