The journey of Tata Motors started in 1945 as TELCO (Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company) by JRD Tata. In 1954, the company went beyond locomotives when it partnered with Daimler-Benz for India's first Tata Mercedes-Benz trucks.
Tata Motors entered the passenger vehicle market in 1991 with the Tata Sierra, India followed by the launch of Indica (1998) and Tata Ace (2005). But the company’s biggest power move came in 2008 when it acquired Jaguar Land Rover from Ford for $2.3 billion.
Tata Commercial Vehicles: Trucks, cargo carriers, tippers, buses, and heavy-duty vehicles for diverse industries like logistics, construction, and mining.
Tata Passenger Vehicles: Compact hatchbacks like the Tiago and Altroz, sedans like the Tigor, and rugged SUVs like the Nexon, Harrier, and Safari. Its EV range features the Tiago EV, Tigor EV, and Nexon EV.
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR): JLR represents Tata Motors’ luxury segment, offering Jaguars like the F-PACE and iconic Land Rover SUVs like the Range Rover Velar.
Tata Fleet Management: The company also provides fleet management solutions, including vehicle leasing, real-time tracking, and AI-driven optimization.
Tata CV Mobility Solutions
This division focuses on logistics tech, offering IoT-enabled trucks and EV fleets.
