Jet Airways India Limited (JAIL) was established in 1992 and began its air taxi services in 1993 with a fleet of Boeing 737400 aircrafts, becoming India's first airline to operate this fleet. In January 1995, the Company achieved the status of a scheduled airline and later in 2001, was reconverted into a private firm. In 2004, it partnered with South African Airways and entered the capital market with an IPO in 2005. It launched its first international flight connecting Mumbai and London in 2005. Jet Airways has won several awards such as Air Transport World Award 2001 for Market Development and the TTG Travel Award 2002 for Best Domestic Airline. Further, it has tied up with American Airlines, Lufthansa Technik AG Germany, Etihad Airways and several others. In FY2017, the company doubled its capacities to ASEAN and SAARC countries by introducing several direct flights. JPPL (a frequent flyer loyalty programme) has also been transferred to JPPL in FY2014, and the Jet Privilege Programme has been linked with Belgian Airline's Privilege Programme. In FY2018, the Company has significantly expanded its network to North America, Europe and Far East in order to strengthen its relationship with code share partners. It has also added frequencies between India and Nepal as well as increased the number of flights between Bengaluru and Singapore and Colombo, Chennai and Paris, Delhi and Sanchar, etc. The Company has undertaken several initiatives to enhance its cargo utilization in FY2018.
