About Deccan Cements Ltd

Deccan Cement was incorporated in July 1979 and began production in October 1992. It was promoted by the Nagarjuna group, a renowned technocrat entrepreneur. In order to double its capacity from 300 tpd to 600 tpd, the company completed a modernisation and expansion project in August 1991. It has also installed a captive generation plant which meets 65% of its total power requirement. To cover long term working capital requirements and capital expenditure, the company in November 1992 issued PCDs with a total aggregate of Rs 8.66 crore. In February 1995, it established the first wind farm in Andhra Pradesh which has produced 10.65 lac units of power. A 3.75 MW mini hydel plant was also commissioned at Narasaraopet in Andhra Pradesh. The expansion of cement division from 198000 tonnes to 297000 tonnes per annum was completed in 1999-2000. Additionally, a Slag Cement Plant with an estimated cost of Rs.25 crores and a capacity of 300000 TPA was created in 2002. Commercial production for the same has already started.
