About B & A Ltd

BA Plantations and Industries BAPIL (formerly called Barasali Tea Company Pvt Ltd and established in 1915) is a public limited company dedicated to growing, manufacturing, marketing and exporting tea. It owns four prime tea gardens in Northeast India and exports its produce to the UK and other European countries. In 1993, it raised funds via a rights issue of FCDs for modernization of its facilities and replantation of its tea gardens. Through its mergers and acquisitions, it now has eight tea gardens, production of which is expected to increase to 2. 45 million kg. The company has also earned Rs.144 lakhs from the export of tea and spent Rs.22 lakhs for the year 1998-99. Additionally, the amalgamation of two of its subsidiary companies, B A Investments Ltd and LIPAB Investments Ltd, has been approved by the shareholders of the three companies.
