About TV18 Broadcast Ltd
The Company operates largest news network in India spanning business news (4 channels), English and Hindi general news (1 each) and regional news (14 channels), along with a joint venture News18Lokmat. Additionally, their entertainment subsidiary Viacom18 (joint venture with Viacom Inc.) operates an array of entertainment channels including Hindi GECs, English entertainment, movies, youth and musical entertainment, kids genre and nine regional entertainment channels e.g. Colors, MTV, Nickelodeon.
During 2006, the Company acquired a strategic stake in the holding company of the erstwhile Channel 7 Hindi language news and current affairs channel. The channel was rebranded as IBN7 and relaunched. In 2008, they forayed into the Regional news space through a joint venture and launched IBN Lokmat, a 24-hour Marathi language News channel. They also entered the entertainment space through Viacom18 Media Pvt. Ltd.
Throughout the years they acquired various businesses and in 2018, the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) approved the Scheme of Merger by Absorption of their direct/indirect wholly owned subsidiaries. The Board of Directors also approved the Composite Scheme of Amalgamation and Arrangement involving them, Den Networks Limited Hathway Cable and Datacom Limited Network18 Media and Investments Limited Media18 and Digital18 Media Limited and their respective Shareholders and Creditors in 2020. The Scheme provides for amalgamation of Den, Hathway and the Company, and transfer of cable broadband and digital businesses in 3 separate wholly owned subsidiaries of Network18.
