About Mcleod Russel India Ltd

McLeod Russel India Limited (MRIL) is the world’s largest tea plantation company, producing over 70 million kilos of high-quality tea from its 53 estates in Assam and West Bengal. MRIL has made a range of strategic acquisitions over the last 15 years – Borelli Tea Holdings Limited in the UK, the Moran Tea Company India, Doom Dooma Tea Company as well as Phu Ben Tea Company in Vietnam – to become the largest tea producing company in the world. MRIL extends its reach beyond India’s borders to serve buyers in the UK and Europe, and markets its tea under the registered Elephant brand. The company is also involved in contract farming operations to produce Jatropha Oil seeds and its derivatives D1Oil Bio Diesel. To manage its growth, the company has made significant capital investments such as increasing withering capacity on 8 estates, installing 12 rotorvanes, 14 CTC machines, 6 Vibro Fluid Bed Dryers, 1 Continuous Fermenting Machine, 3 new 500 KVA diesel generating sets and 1 Mini Boiler. Moreover, in order to meet its sustainability initiatives, MRIL has certification for various credentials, such as FairTrade Labelling Organisation International (FLO), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), Suppliers Ethical Data Exchange (SEDEX) and Ethical Tea Partnership (ETP). The company plans to invest 250 million rupees in capex during financial year of 2020-21.
