About Longview Tea Company Ltd

The Longview Tea Company was established in 1879 and taken over by the Dagas family in 1954. It is now part of the Deepak Group, which additionally comprises two successful and ISO 9001-certified businesses: Deepak Industries and Deepak Spinners. The former manufactures industrial gear boxes, gears, couplings, and automobile gears, while the latter specializes in blended synthetic yarn, with a production capacity of 41,000 spindles. Longview began operations in 1954 and now operates six tea estates in Darjeeling and North Bengal, producing over 3 million kg of Darjeeling, CTC, and green tea annually. Though it has been consistently profitable and dividend-paying for many years, losses were reported in 1992-2000 and it eventually had to almost entirely sell off its tea estates.
