About Lloyds Metals & Energy Ltd

Lloyds Metals & Engineers Ltd. (formerly Nagarjuna Metals & Engineers Ltd) was established in April 1977 and is engaged in the mining of iron ore, manufacture of sponge iron and generation of power. In 1995, the company went public by issuing premium shares of Rs.140 to finance its projects of creating a 1.5 lakh TPA capacity for sponge iron and 75,000 TPA capacity for ERW pipes. Subsequent expansions included a 600,000 TPA sponge iron plant along with a 12 MW power plant, 2 separate modules of a 95 TPD sponge iron plant along with a 4 MW waste heat recovery power plant and plans to create a 3 MTPA flat product ISP at Konsar.

In increasing efforts to revive the company, the scheme of arrangement for the demerger of the CR sheet division into Encon Technologies and the amalgamation of Insco Steels was approved in 2000. In 2009, Lloyds Line Pipes Ltd was formed as a wholly-owned subsidiary and took ownership of the Steel Tubes and Pipes undertaking in Murbad. Further expansion in 2013-14 included the formation of joint venture company Thriveni-Lloyds Mining Private Ltd with MDO contractor Thriveni Earthmovers Private Ltd. Over the years, Lloyds has adapted to market needs and remain determined to continue doing so.
