About GKW Ltd

GKW, formerly known as Guest Keen Williams, is an engineering company with four divisions including precision pressing steel fasteners, engineering, and forging that has operations at Howrah (West Bengal), Pune and Mumbai (Maharashtra), Titilagarh (Orissa), and Bangalore (Karnataka). In 1984 the automotive pressing project at Kanhe Pune (Maharashtra) commenced operations and in 1991 the company diversified with its merger with Sankey Wheels to form a wheels division. That same year, the Bangalore unit was awarded ISO 9002 Certification. In 1995-96 Powmex Steels Ltd. had a merger with GKW; also during this time the company made a maiden entry into the power sector. In 1999-2000 GKW set up a plant in Pune to produce metal pressed components and subassemblies for the automotive sector, and in 2000-2001 the company sold its entire shareholding in Uttam and Tandem Fiscal Services Ltd. In 2001-2002 GKW made a reference to the BIFR at the Board’s declaring the company to be Sick; this led to SBI being appointed as the operating agency.
