About Bharat Immunological & Biological Corporation Ltd

Bharat Immunological and Biological Corporation Limited was incorporated in 1989 in Uttar Pradesh and is in the business of manufacturing pharmaceutical formulations. The company has a manufacturing unit located in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh which is setup to produce 100 million units of the Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV). Commercial production of this vaccine started in January 1996 with orders being received from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for interment use in the national immunization programme. Additionally, the Company has a research and development unit whose purpose is to develop the Hepatitis B vaccine via technology transfer from the U.S. To diversify their production, the Company is looking into manufacturing B.C.G., measles, and Tetanus Toxide vaccines. However, the Company has been declared a Sick Company by BIFR (Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction).
